Review: Galapagos Natural Life Hostel, Quito, Ecuador

We finally made it to Ecuador and were booked to stay in the Galapagos Natural Life Hostel in the popular backpacker area La Mariscal.  We had booked a boat trip in the Galapagos through the same company and were given a complimentary night’s accommodation due to our booking.

We arrived and decided to stay for 3 nights before heading off to the Galapagos Islands because we instantly felt so welcome and like we had a home in Quito.  The family who own both the hostel and the travel agency are so warm and go out of their way to make you feel at ease and enjoy your stay.  They even leant me some warm clothing as I didn’t have any on me to go up the teleferico!  The hostel is great value (at $8 – 12) with an included breakfast every morning.

The breakfast is the best inclusive breakfast in any accommodation we have had on the whole trip!  It is amazing.  They give you freshly squeezed juice, eggs of your preference with fresh French bread, a big bowl of fresh fruit chopped in yoghurt, and hot drinks.  The portions are generous and the quality above all is superb.  The friendly service is so lovely too – when its nice and sunny you are asked if you would prefer to sit outside and then the table will be moved out.

On our return to Quito each time during our stay in Ecuador we returned to Natural Life and each time it was lovely to have familiar faces welcome us and to chat to about the trip.  I definitely recommend staying at this hostel.
