Did you know...??

On a visit to the Museum of London today I learnt some interesting historical food facts....

Text: In the Middle Ages children drank weak beer because it was safer than drinking dirty water.

Text: London's first Indian restaurant has opened in Portman Square in 1810.

Text: The sandwich was made popular by the Earl of Sandwich in 1762 because he could play cards while eating.

To go with the sandwich theme a great cheese sandwich with salad cream to dip in....hmmmm! This combo is amazing, please try if you haven't!!

Text from image: 'Fish and chips were brought to the UK by Jewish refugees expelled from Portugal in the 17th Century'

This image caught my attention whilst travelling on the underground in London today.  It is part of Refugee Week which starts on Monday 20th June.
